We are clear in our intention to address behavioural challenges in our schools.

Under the Criminal Justice Act 1988, it is a criminal offence to possess a bladed article on school premises without good reason or lawful authority.

The Welsh Government’s existing Safe and Effective intervention: use of reasonable force and searching for weapons guidance makes clear that schools have the powers to search pupils for weapons without consent. It also sets out a number of measures to support schools prevent knives from being brought onto school premises. (Saesneg yn unig)
