Health boards are expected to use the Quality Statement for Neurological Conditions to plan and deliver services in line with recognised clinical standards and guidance , including those from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
The quality statement sets out clear expectations for neurological services in Wales, including the development of evidence‑based, integrated neuro‑rehabilitation services for all neurological conditions. This includes access to psychological support, improved service navigation, and opportunities for self‑referral for people living with, or affected by, neurological conditions such as Huntington’s disease.
The National Strategic Clinical Network for Neurological Conditions, part of NHS Performance and Improvement, has identified neuro‑rehabilitation as a priority. The network is working with health boards to map neurological services and workforce capacity across Wales, including community neuro‑rehabilitation. An all‑Wales Community of Practice for community neuro‑rehabilitation has been established and has reviewed NICE guidance on rehabilitation for chronic neurological conditions, with a particular focus on access to services and care coordination. This work will inform future service development and supports the consistent implementation of the Quality Statement for Neurological Conditions across Wales. (Saesneg yn unig)
