Powys County Council is the lead authority for progressing proposals for a new pedestrian footbridge at Caersws. The scheme is being developed by the Council as part of its local infrastructure programme, and it does not form part of the Welsh Government’s Strategic Road Network programme or any associated options pipeline.

The Welsh Government understands that Powys County Council has secured Levelling Up Fund support for the development of the footbridge, with funding available until 2028/29, and the Council is responsible for managing the delivery, governance and funding arrangements for the project.

As programme management, feasibility work and option development are led by Powys County Council, detailed timescales for assessments and decision‑making sit with the Council. Welsh Government officials continue to liaise with Powys County Council where their work interfaces with the A470/A489 corridor and the ongoing Moat Lane junction WelTAG study, but responsibility for planning and delivering the footbridge remains with the Council.

Caersws Community Council may wish to engage directly with Powys County Council to support the development of the scheme. This could include providing

local evidence on pedestrian movements, safety concerns, accessibility needs, and wider community priorities, as well as participating in any consultation that the Council undertakes. (Saesneg yn unig)
