Following incidents on the A40 Llanddewi Velfrey bypass, repairs were undertaken on the safety barrier. At the same time the safety barriers were being repaired an isolated area with a surfacing defect was identified and was repaired at the Contractor’s expense.
There is no evidence to suggest that the surfacing defect was a contributing factor to the incidents, and the isolated surfacing issue is not reflective of the wider scheme.
There will be follow-up lesson learned workshop to ensure any learning from this surfacing issue informs future design, construction methods, and quality assurance on other road schemes across Wales. (Saesneg yn unig)
