This data is published on StatsWales. It shows the number of learners with special educational needs (SEN) back to 2015/16 and the number of learners with additional learning needs (ALN) from 2021/22 onwards.

The ALN system was introduced gradually over a four-year period between 2021 and 2025. From September 2025, the system for supporting pupils with SEN has been replaced by the ALN system.
