The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership’s Medicines’ Value Unit is working closely with the manufacturer to finalise the commercial agreement for Alyftrek®. The commercial agreement covering Alyftrek® is particularly complex and forms part of a wider agreement covering other medicines for cystic fibrosis; Kaftrio®, Kalydeco®, Symveki® and Orkambi®.
Whilst NHS Wales was ready to negotiate the agreement at the point at which NICE made its recommendation, the manufacturer decided to conclude its agreement with NHS England before starting discussions with the NHS in Wales. This has led to a short delay in making Alyftrek® available.
I am assured the agreement will be completed shortly, making Alyftrek® the latest in the line of life changing treatments for Cystic Fibrosis routinely available for patients in Wales.
