The annual cost of learner travel in Wales was approximately £204 million in 2024/2025. Reducing statutory distances or expanding Welsh-medium transport would require significant additional funding and resources, varying considerably between rural and urban regions due to demand.
No formal global cost estimates are presently available for the whole of Wales.
