The toolkit is a ‘live’ document which is available for all schools to access. We do not collect data on which schools access it, or how often they access it. However, as at the end of May 2025 85% of all schools are action planning to meet their wellbeing needs, including almost all secondary schools.
We are providing funding of just over £780,000 in 2025-26 to Public Health Wales to fund implementation co-ordinators to work with schools, helping them assess the well-being needs of learners, teachers and their whole school community. This includes support for the What Works Toolkit. Implementation co-ordinators promote its use to schools to enable them to take evidence-based decisions on what interventions they may wish to adopt. PHW are currently scoping evidence reviews for Trauma Informed approaches and the internationally available KiVa anti-bullying programme, as well as updates to the existing intervention reviews.
