Sut y bydd Llywodraeth Cymru yn sicrhau bod aelodau o'r cyhoedd ac adroddwyr mandadol yn wybodus ac yn hyderus wrth adnabod ac adrodd am gam-drin plant yn rhywiol, a pha gamau fydd yn cael eu cymryd i gynyddu ymwybyddiaeth a grymuso'r cyhoedd yn y maes hwn?
Raising awareness of roles and responsibilities and increasing confidence in the steps to take when people have concerns about children is critical in keeping children and young people safe from abuse, neglect and harm.
In 2023 we launched the ‘Making the Call’ campaign which aimed to raise awareness of safeguarding generally with the public. In 2024, we supported the NSPCC ‘Listen Up, Speak Up’ campaign by funding the Welsh translation of all marketing materials.
The first strategic objective of the ten-year strategy is to prevent child sexual abuse. We will empower children, parents, carers, communities, and professionals to identify and confidently report concerns.
These activities will include the centralisation of existing resources for these groups, development of new resources where there are gaps, working with communities and community leaders and promoting online safeguarding training for volunteers and professionals who provide activities to children and adults but do not have a safeguarding specific role. This group is referred to as Group A in the National Safeguarding Training Standards co-produced by Social Care Wales.
Regional Safeguarding Boards provide multi-agency training including child sexual abuse and exploitation training and all Boards are committed to implementing the National Standards.
Under the strategy our ambition is to develop a Child Sexual Abuse Training Framework in line with the National Safeguarding Training Standards.
