The Welsh Government received Barnett consequentials for changes to the overall DfT capital budget at the UK Government’s Autumn Budget. It is for Welsh Ministers to decide how to utilise the block grant to meet Welsh priorities, and our spending plans for 2025-26 were set out in the Draft Budget which we laid on 10 December 2024.

In 2025/2026 I have dedicated an additional £25m, ringfenced solely for preventing potholes on the strategic road network and concentrating on worn out roads and pavements to repair the most valuable Welsh Government asset. We will continue to invest in maintaining roads and pavements, ensuring our communities are safely connected as one of our top priorities.
