The Wrexham area has been impacted by two major weather events in recent months. Storm Bert and Storm Darragh were particularly disruptive for services operating to and from Wrexham area stations. These storms caused significant damage in the area. They also resulted in school and road closures, and cancellations to bus and rail services on safety grounds. In addition, performance at these stations were impacted by changes to the train services as a result of the tragic incident at Talerddig.

I am pleased to note that performance has begun to improve through January, reflecting the improvements delivered by Transport for Wales in their December timetable change, and the on-going introduction of new trains as part of our £800m investment. 87% of Marches Line services are now planned to operate with new trains, and 100% of services on the Wrexham-Bidston line.

I regularly meet with the Chief Executive of Transport for Wales, and I will continue to use those discussion to press for further performance improvements to Transport for Wales service in Wrexham, and across Wales and the Borders.
