The Welsh Government’s position on ambulance handover is clearly set out in our ambulance patient handover guidance. The NHS Executive will be auditing NHS organisations’ compliance with the guidance.
The Welsh Government does not hold information about the cost to the NHS caused by ambulance handover delays at Ysbyty Maelor, Ysbyty Gwynedd and Ysbyty Glan Clwyd hospitals. An assessment of the emissions and pollutant levels emanating from vehicles has not been undertaken.
