The reform of National 14-16 Qualifications is being led by Qualifications Wales to ensure qualifications support the Curriculum for Wales. In line with its principal aims as the independent regulator of non-degree qualifications, Qualifications Wales will monitor the introduction of reformed GCSEs to ensure that they are meeting the needs of Welsh learners, and to promote public confidence in the Welsh qualification system.

Separately, the evaluation of Curriculum for Wales has been designed to provide a picture of how the curriculum reforms are working, how practice is changing and how these changes are being experienced by practitioners, learners and their families. This will include understanding the challenges and opportunities of the new qualifications, including GCSEs, that are being introduced to support Curriculum for Wales.
