The Additional Learning Needs reform is a priority area for me, and I am passionate about improving how we support some of our most vulnerable learners in Wales.

Improving collaboration between health, social care, and education is a key principle underpinning the ALN system and has been identified as an area for improvement in the Welsh Government’s ALN workplan. I discuss this regularly with Welsh Government colleagues.

The ALN Multi-Agency Collaboration Working Group provides a forum to discuss common challenges, successes and opportunities to strengthen joint working between education, health and other key partners under the ALN system.

Implementing the ALN system is part of the Welsh Government’s wider strategic action plan for learning disability services which support a holistic approach to supporting children with learning disabilities in Wales.
