Managers and staff are encouraged to proactively plan and allocate time for all required statutory and mandatory training; however, managers are ultimately responsible for ensuring their teams have adequate time to meet the training requirements to provide safe and effective care.
However, we recognise that the completion of mandatory and statutory training for NHS Wales is challenging due to several factors including operational constraints, staff turnover and absences. Compliance is monitored through systems like the Electronic Staff Record (ESR), which tracks training completion rates and provides regular reports.
