The recent heavy and persistent rainfall has caused some issues at several NHS sites, including the Princess of Wales Hospital, in Bridgend. Immediate action was taken by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board to ensure patient and staff safety. A prioritised schedule of works is being developed to address roof water-sealing issues. The health board is in close contact with Welsh Government officials about the extent of these works.

Health boards are responsible for the safe operation and management of its estate. They receive a discretionary capital allocation each year to support key risks, including improvements to buildings. Capital funding of £24m for infrastructure works has been made available over the last two years across the NHS estate.
