Conwy County Council has one pupil referral unit (PRU), Canolfan Addysg Conwy, which provides education to children between the ages of 5 to 16. The PRU is set over three sites based in Penmaenrhos, Penrhos and Llandudno.
Following the pandemic, local authorities in Wales experienced a significant increase in demand for EOTAS placements. This increase was sudden and whilst local authorities have worked hard to meet the increased demand, it will take time for PRU places to meet demand.
Where PRU places are not available, local authorities will put in interim arrangements, which can include home tuition or placements in independent EOTAS provision.
