Planning applications must be determined in accordance with the development plan unless material considerations indicate otherwise. We therefore want health boards to engage with the planning system during the preparation of local development plans. This is when health infrastructure and measures to support healthy lives can be properly co-ordinated with other development proposals to create a sound plan strategy.
Health boards are statutory consultees for plan preparation and we have worked with Public Health Wales to help improve understanding of the planning system by health professionals so they can better influence development both at plan and application stages.
