Welsh Government funding for the arts is channelled through the Arts Council of Wales (ACW). Through both multi-year and project funding, ACW fund several initiatives to support the arts in north Wales.

Following the Investment Review, ACW has increased revenue investment in multi-year funded organisations based in north Wales local authority areas (Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Anglesey and Wrexham) from £4,743,116 to £5,261,722 in 2024-25.

Theatres in North Wales, including Venue Cymru, Avant Cymru, Canolfan Ucheldre Centre, Magic Lantern and Cwmni’r Fran Wen have benefitted from a total of £778,610 of investment from ACW’s Invest in Theatres initiative over the last two years.

The Welsh Government’s major capital investment in the redevelopment of Theatr Clwyd delivers on a commitment in the Programme for Government and represents a significant investment in the arts in Wales and recognition of the considerable social, cultural, and economic benefits Theatr Clwyd brings to Wales, particularly to communities in north-east Wales.

In addition, several galleries in north Wales have received capital investment through the National Contemporary Art Gallery for Wales, a commitment in the Programme for Government, delivered through a collaboration between the Arts Council of Wales, Amgueddfa Cymru and National Library of Wales. Galleries supported include Mostyn, Ruthin Arts Centre, Storiel and Plas Glyn-y-Weddw.
