Increasing the number of social homes across the whole of Wales is a priority for this Government. Our commitment is underpinned by record levels of funding for social housing of over £1.4billion so far, this Senedd term.

We know that rural areas have particular housing challenges. We are committed to supporting Rural Housing Enablers (RHEs), who play an important role in delivering rural housing. We are providing £424,000 for RHE projects across Wales over a three year period (2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25). RHEs are hosted by local authorities or registered social landlords. Funding is being provided to six projects covering eight local authority areas (Anglesey, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Powys, Vale of Glamorgan and Monmouthshire).

Through the Unnos programme, we are developing a Rural Housing Action Guide which will provide support to communities and other stakeholders to help them to deliver more quality affordable housing in rural areas.
