Local authorities can use the UK Blue Badge Digital Service (BBDS) to issue reminder letters to badge holders when a badge is approaching its expiry date. The Welsh Government’s guidance to local authorities on how to manage the Blue Badge scheme highlights that they can sign up to the BBDS at no cost and advises them to establish procedures for the return of expired badges.
