The Welsh Government supports businesses to reduce and navigate red tape, including though our Business Wales service.

The biggest rise in red tape for many businesses comes from the limited nature of the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement the UK Government negotiated with the EU. The Welsh Government continues to press the UK Government to improve the functioning and scope of this agreement to reduce red tape and improve trade.

The Welsh Government has sought to provide stability and predictability to the regulatory framework for businesses in Wales following our exit from the EU and the assimilation of EU law into our statute book. We have not sought to reform or make changes to regulations for changes sake.

Along with all other parts of the UK, the Welsh Government upholds good regulatory practice to meet our international obligations and ensure positive conditions for businesses to trade internationally.
