Delivering social housing is a key priority for this Government which is why we have set out the challenging commitment to deliver 20,000 homes for rent within the social sector during this government term.

Denbighshire County Council has received £32.7m since the start of this government to develop new affordable housing schemes that meet its strategic housing priorities and will receive up to £10.2m this financial year.

While our focus in on building new homes, acquisitions of existing properties are also important which is why we are continuing to take action and support the Transitional Accommodation Capital Programme to ensure the earlier availability homes for those most in need.  Denbighshire has received £4.63m since the programme was launched in 2022-23.

Both these programmes help to reduce the social housing waiting list together with our Leasing Scheme Wales.  This is where local authorities take over the management of privately owned properties and let properties at Local Housing Allowance Rates.  Denbighshire also participate in this scheme with 7 properties to date.
