The removal of the registration fee subsidy provided to the Education Workforce Council (EWC) for the 2024/25 financial year will not impact registrants.

The shortfall in income to the EWC is being met through the EWC’s reserves so that registrants will continue to pay the same fee.

In setting the 2024-25 draft budget, we have had to take incredibly difficult decisions. Budgets have been re-shaped in line with a set of guiding principles – to protect core frontline public services as far as possible, to deliver the greatest benefit to households which are hardest hit, to prioritise jobs wherever possible, and to work in partnership with other public sector bodies.
