We know outdoor learning, be that within an educational setting, the wider community, or a forest, beach or mountain, offers authentic experiences leading to high levels of well-being, confidence and engagement. This enables learners to explore, practise and enhance their skills whilst supporting their social, emotional, spiritual and physical development.

This is promoted through Curriculum for Wales guidance and supporting professional learning resources which recognises that the learning environment, in particular when outdoors, is a key enabler for children’s development.  A range of qualifications are available to practitioners to support the pedagogy of outdoor learning alongside support provided by Natural Resource Wales and the Wales Council for Outdoor Learning.
