The Welsh Government offers incentives to attract student teachers into initial teacher education with certain subject specialisms where these have been identified as a priority for the workforce. The Welsh Government has also committed to continue our support for the Part-time PGCE and Salaried PGCE, for new student teachers in both academic year 2024/25 and academic year 2025/26. The alternative ITE routes enable those unable to undertake full-time ITE to access the teaching profession and address priority subject areas.
