It is not the role of the Welsh Government to boost the competitiveness of the WRU. It is the responsibility of all national governing bodies of sport to manage their own financial position. However, the Welsh Government did provide financial assistance through grants during Covid and subsequently a commercial loan arrangement to assist the WRU at a time of need to repay their UK Government Covid Large Business Interruption Loan Scheme.
