The Welsh Government believes that community hubs work much better when they are developed organically. We would therefore not seek to establish any hub. However, where a community identifies the need and opportunity for a community hub, then support is available from a number of Welsh Government funded sources, as well as from local authorities and other agencies.

Third Sector Support Wales provides a range of support which could be useful, including help and advice on matters including governance, safeguarding, managing volunteers and applying for funding.

Funding Wales is an online resource which contains information on local, regional and national funding opportunities. Some of these may be suitable for groups seeking to establish community hubs.

The Welsh Government’s Community Facilities Programme offers capital grants of up to £25k for small projects and up to £300k for larger projects. These grants can be used to purchase and improve community buildings which could be used as community hubs.

The Community Asset Loan Fund offers loans of up to £300k for community groups seeking to purchase and improve community assets. This is a Welsh Government fund, managed for us by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action.
