A wnaiff y Gweinidog ddatganiad am doriadau arfaethedig i swyddi yng Ngardd Fotaneg Genedlaethol Cymru?
I was saddened to learn of the potential redundancies at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (NBGW). I appreciate this must be a very difficult time for staff members who are leaving their posts. I am assured by NBGW that support is available for affected employees through its own Employee Assistance Programme.
The redundancies are proposed as part of NBGW’s Change Management Plan, which it developed in response to an internal review and audit of functions carried out by NGBW into its own governance, policies and operations. The redundancies at NBGW have been prompted by this Plan, and not by the cut in 2024-25 to the Welsh Government’s discretionary grant.
The changes set out in the Plan are intended to address the long-term financial deficit position under which NBGW continues to operate, along with a wider realignment of NBGW’s core functions and internal structures. Its renewed focus will still enable it to deliver on its core functions: the research and conservation of biodiversity, sustainability, lifelong learning and the enjoyment of the visitor.
