The Welsh Government is working with the Crown Estate and developers in delivering floating wind (FLOW) opportunities for Wales. We are also ensuring our supply chains and education and skills sectors are prepared for the opportunities that accompany FLOW developments. The Wales Marine Energy Programme has supported ports in southwest Wales to plan for the upgrades they require to deliver the infrastructure.

We are extremely disappointed and concerned with the lack of successful offshore wind projects in the most recent Contracts for Difference round managed by UK Government. We have raised such concerns with the UK Government.

There is no doubt that investor confidence has been dented and that the UK Government needed to reappraise their market offering to ensure that the UK remained a competitive location to do business.  I am therefore looking forward to further clarification around the 12GW for FLOW for the Celtic Sea that was announced in the Autumn Statement.
