The Arts Council of Wales (ACW) reopened its National Lottery supported programmes of regular grant funding to the arts sector early in 2021. Since then, ACW has distributed over £38million to organisations through schemes such as ‘Create’, ‘Creative Steps’ and ‘Connect & Flourish’.

 

A key focus for the funding schemes has been strengthening the capability and resilience of the arts to be more dynamic and sustainable and funding has been made available to theatres and theatre companies for the creation of work for presentation and for programming, presenting and touring theatre. The funding has been aimed at supporting theatres to re-build audiences, and across all artforms theatre has been the second highest supported since Covid.

 

ACW continues to offer National Lottery funding to theatres to develop product for audience development and the next grant rounds are:

-       3 July 2024

-       21 August 2024

-       9 October 2024

-       15 January 2025
