Transforming Towns is an ongoing programme and the £44m commitment covers the period from 2022-23 to 2024-25.

All projects receiving support from the Transforming Towns programme emerge from, and are supported by, the strategic direction of the placemaking plan proposals for the respective town or city. This ensures Welsh Government support is co-ordinated and strategic in nature, delivering on the Town Centres First principle and aligning programme objectives wherever possible.

Specific larger projects (awards of more than £250k) approved to date can be found on the Welsh Government website at: Decision reports | GOV.WALES. Further applications are anticipated during the remainder of the latest three-year funding period.

In addition, each local authority also receives an allocation to support lower value projects (up to £250k) which meet the objectives of the Transforming Towns programme. These offer local authority partners in Wales a broad and flexible package of support aimed at revitalising town centres throughout Wales. It is the responsibility of local authority partners to decide on the most appropriate mix of interventions and how they are deployed effectively. This support is available in any town centre prioritised by local authority partners.
