We have a number of schemes which contribute to bringing empty homes back into use.

The Transitional Accommodation Capital Programme (TACP) was established during the 2022-23 financial year to provide good quality longer-term accommodation for everyone in housing need, including those being resettled from Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. 374 of the 936 homes provided under the programme in 2022-23 were properties brought back into use as homes.

43 empty properties were also bought back into use in 2022-23 through Leasing Scheme Wales.

We have also given local authorities nearly £43m of recyclable funding to provide interest-free property loans for landlords and homeowners for home improvements or to renovate empty properties and bring them back into use. This ongoing scheme has been used to bring back 1,850 empty properties into use as homes across Wales. In addition to this, 330 empty town centre residential units have been brought back into use as homes through our £73m Transforming Towns Loan scheme.
