The action taken in Monmouthshire concerns a local issue between teachers and the local authority as their employer. The Welsh Government is not directly involved in this dispute as it is a matter for the employing body to resolve with the Trade Union.
It is important that all staff are made to feel safe in their work environment.
Any form of violence or abuse against staff in our schools is completely unacceptable. We want our schools to be safe and welcoming environments where teachers can get on with their jobs, ensuring that every child and young person is supported to reach their potential and have a suitable and efficient education and equality of opportunity. We continue to work in partnership with all Trade Unions and local authorities to address national issues.
