Beth yw targed blynyddol Llywodraeth Cymru ar gyfer lleihau plastig mewn cynhyrchion mislif?
Welsh Government has increased the target for plastic free and re-usable products year on year. In the financial year 2023-2024, we stipulated that at least 70% of the period products purchased through the Period Dignity Grant must be reusable and/or plastic free. The Period Proud Wales plan, commits to increasing this target to 90-100% by 2027.
Since the inception of the grant, Welsh Government has instructed local authorities to meet increasing targets related to ensuring products purchased through the grant must be reusable or plastic free.
Period products were one of over 60 products identified as potentially requiring future action by respondents to our 2020 Reducing Single-use Plastics consultation. Whilst we recognise these products can present an environmental risk if disposed of inappropriately, we are seeking to encourage behavioural change through education and awareness raising.
