Development over burial grounds and the management of burial grounds is controlled under the Burials Act 1857, the Town and Country Planning (Churches, Place of Religious Worship and Burial Grounds) Regulations 1950, the Local Authorities’ Cemeteries Order 1977 and the Disused Burial Grounds (Amendment) Act 1981.
