Professional, impartial careers advice, information and coaching in secondary schools, special schools, PRUs and colleges across Wales is provided by our national careers service Careers Wales. Since September 2022 to May 2023, Careers Wales delivered over 79,000 one-one careers interviews to over 34,000 young people in education.

Estyn’s thematic report Impartial careers advice and guidance to young people aged 14 to 16 years provided by Careers Wales (2022) identified that Careers Wales targets the 14-16-year-olds most in need of independent advice and guidance for their career pathways. Most careers advisers are well-prepared for the guidance session at the schools and settings they visited, particularly where relationships with schools are good and they confirmed that Careers Wales provide clear advice, often challenging risky or unrealistic ideas through sensitive questioning.
