The core revenue funding the Welsh Government provides to Local Authorities each year is distributed according to relative need. The allocation formula is kept under a continuous programme of review and improvement, which is overseen by the Distribution Subgroup (DSG). The group produces an annual report, and development work plan for consideration by the Finance Subgroup of the Partnership Council for Wales.
The amount of funding each Local Authority sets aside for education budgets is for the authority to determine in accordance with the School Funding (Wales) Regulations 2010.
