Both Brecon High and Gwernyfed High Schools are finalising a suitable action plan to bring about the necessary improvements within their schools. Estyn have visited both schools to discuss the draft action plans. Estyn will continue to monitor the progress of both schools.
Powys County Council are also preparing plans that set out the actions it proposes to take. I anticipate the local authority will work closely with both schools to ensure that the school and local authority plans are closely aligned.
Local authorities have statutory responsibility for monitoring their schools and intervening where appropriate where they have concerns. I understand that Powys County Council has extended its secondary school improvement team to assist their secondary schools.
