The Developers’ Pact represents a public commitment that developers will address fire safety issues in buildings of 11 metres and over they have developed over the last 30 years.

The Developers’ Pact is underpinned by formal legal documentation that sets out our detailed expectations.

The document requires developers to address life critical fire safety issues in buildings of 11 metres and over in height they have developed since 1992.  It also sets out the intention to monitor progress, reporting requirements, and signposts a dispute resolution process.

This has been drafted and shared with the Home Builders Federation.

Developers will be legally bound by the formal documentation underpinning the Pact once they have signed that documentation.

Legislation is therefore not required to make the contents of the legally binding documentation enforceable against such a developer.

I already issue regular updates on Building Safety matters via Written Statement and / or our Stakeholder Newsletter.  To receive the newsletter, you will need to subscribe by clicking the available link here and registering your interest.

If you would like to subscribe to the Welsh version, please subscribe here.

Once registered you will receive regular updates from the Building Safety Programme.

I am not aware of any contracts directly awarded within my portfolio to developers that have signed up to our Developers’ Pact.
