Work to deliver a complex array of projects across Wales through city and growth deals continues.

North Wales Growth Deal

The Digital Signal Processing Project launched last year and is the first project to move into delivery with procurement starting for the next phase of equipment purchases.

An opportunity to identify new ambitious, innovative and transformational projects to deliver jobs and investment in the region, is to be launched in early 2023.

Ambition North Wales | North Wales Growth Deal to seek new projects in early 2023

Swansea Bay City Deal

All projects have now been approved and are in delivery.

Achievements include the opening of Swansea Arena, completion of the Bay Technology Centre, launch of the £10m Port Talbot Waterfront Property Development fund and continuation of Yr Egin in Carmarthen for a fourth year.

Construction of a new supersize slipway and new workboat pontoons has begun at Pembroke Port, marking a big step forward in our transition to net zero and strengthening the ports position for floating offshore wind opportunities.

Mid Wales Growth Deal

Final Deal Agreement was signed by all three parties on 13 January 2022, setting out a Welsh Government, UK Government and Growing Mid Wales Board framework for how the Deal will be delivered.

The focus now for the region is to further develop the shortlisted programme and project business cases as part of an evolving Portfolio Business Case, with the draw-down of the first tranche of funding anticipated for financial year 2023-24.

Cardiff City Region

There are 21 projects in delivery covering investment in sites and property, transport and skills that span across a number of priority sectors in the Region such as Digital, Compound Semi-Conductor and Life Sciences.

A total of £319m of the £495m Wider Investment Fund has been committed to date, delivering 1496 jobs and over £80m leverage.

A further £150m of additional projects are also in development, at differing stages of the approval process.
