Cadw’s Historic Buildings Grant Capital Programme is specifically designed to assist with repairs to the fabric of listed buildings that are at risk or in a vulnerable condition. The application guidance explains that the grant can fund:
- Works of repair to the building envelope to prevent a further deterioration in condition and loss of significance; (structural works, temporary stabilisation and protection, roofing works, leadwork repairs, renewal of rainwater disposal systems, masonry repairs, external joinery works, protective finishes).
- Works of repair, both internally and externally that support proposals to bring the asset back into use; (in addition to the works listed above, timber repairs, plastering works, internal joinery repairs).
Historic parks and gardens are a different category of asset and any financial support for them would need to be tailored to their particular characteristics and needs.
As the relevant Minister, I am ultimately responsible for the budget decisions of the department.
