While recent announcements on fusion ignition (i.e. the fusion reaction that releases more energy than is put in) represent a significant advance in fusion research, the technology is still very much at the experimental stage, and is many years away from being able to practically contribute to any commercial energy system. Welsh Government is not currently including nuclear fusion in its generation plans.
