Welsh Government is committed to ensuring that anyone with epilepsy in Wales should have access to the best possible care.

Since 2017, £1m funding has been allocated to the Neurological Conditions Implementation group (NCIG) to support the development and implementation of equitable, high-quality services for people living with neurological conditions.

The NCIG and National Clinical Lead for Neurological Conditions is currently working with the Value Based Health Care team to develop a data dashboard for epilepsy, which will help to support business cases for developing services for people with epilepsy going forward.   The addition of neurological conditions including epilepsy on the national dashboard provides a way of monitoring services, identifying inequalities and improving care.

We will continue to work with the NCIG to improve services for all those with neurological conditions across Wales, including those with epilepsy.

Next month we will publish a quality statement for neurological conditions which sets out the outcomes and standards we expect health boards to achieve in delivering those services.
