The Welsh Government has provided £839k of SMART Expertise funding to the Tywi Farm Nutrient Partnership at the Agricultural Research Centre at Coleg Sir Gar. The project aims to develop and demonstrate new techniques and technologies in a Welsh agricultural context, to change the way on farm nutrients are managed. This includes extensive research and development around the de-watering of slurry, the resulting material of which is significantly easier to transport and has the potential for further processing and use as a biochar product, for example.
