Our primary school breakfast provision has been in place since June 2014. The aim is to help to improve the health and concentration of children and to assist in the raising of standards of learning and attainment.
Our Programme for Government sets out ‘maintaining our commitment to provide free breakfasts for all primary school pupils’. In delivering this we continue to work with local authorities to support them to deliver the provision, alongside the rollout of Universal Primary Free School Meals.
Based on the latest schools census data from February 2022, 1,106 schools from a total of 1,284 schools with primary aged pupils provided free school breakfast provision on the census day.
