Pa gamau mae Llywodraeth Cymru'n eu cymryd i ddenu digwyddiadau chwaraeon mawr i ogledd Cymru?
We set out in our “Programme for Government” that the Welsh Government is “determined to do all we can to help our tourism, sports and arts industries recover from the experience of the pandemic”. Events are a major part of that.
Last month we launched a new National Event Strategy for Wales to expand the contribution that events make to the seven goals of the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act. The strategy focuses on three key themes, one of which is ‘All of Wales’, to extend the reach of events both geographically and across all genres that appeal to visitors and communities alike.
We have a strong track record in attracting major international sporting events, to North Wales, for example the Wales Rally GB and Red Bull Unleashed surfing competition and we are already looking ahead to the Island Games on Anglesey in 2027.
We will continue to support the development of indigenous events in North Wales, across all genres, including the likes of Focus Wales, Gottwood Festival and the Llanberis Slateman Triathlon to promote participation in sport and showcase our most iconic natural venues.
