We continue to seek opportunities to promote Wales’s key strengths on the world stage. For example, my officials attended SEMICON West in California and London FinTech Week in recent weeks and had a number of productive discussions with a range of overseas businesses.

The number of inward visits to Wales continues to gather momentum. We hosted successful visits from two Japanese delegations from the renewable energy sector and are following up on a number of actions that arose. The First Minister also hosted the Agent-General of Quebec in London to discuss opportunities to build on the relationship between Wales and Quebec, including around trade and inward investment. In the coming weeks we are looking forward to welcoming other business and stakeholders to Wales.

We are engaging with UK government teams across the world to ensure the network understands Wales’s compelling propositions, as well as to promote High Potential Opportunities (HPOs) in Wales, including compound semiconductors and medtech.

In addition, we will be looking to maximise opportunities around the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and around the world. Officials from the inward investment team and overseas networks are actively involved in the Welsh Government’s cross-departmental work to plan for the event.
