Future Wales – the National Plan 2040 and Planning Policy Wales promote the development of compact and walkable places as part of a wider commitment to placemaking. Local planning authorities use the strategic placemaking principles set out in these documents to develop locally specific approaches.
The Welsh Government’s strategic placemaking principles include achieving a walkable scale, increasing density, a mix of uses and integrated green infrastructure.
