Police recorded road accident and casualty numbers from 2020 were affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which saw restrictions on how, where and why people could travel within Wales. Data for year 2021 only covers first quarter (January to March 2021).
Accident severity is determined by the most seriously injured casualty in the accident.
Pedal Cycling volume in Wales went up by 68% in 2020 compared to 2019, the largest increase since records began in Wales whilst all other vehicles had a reduction in traffic volume.
Accidents and fatalities involving 'motorcyclists' are defined where the road user is classed as "motorcycle".
